The Best Details of Residence Hall Living

While there are plenty of options when it comes to where you're going to live while you're going to college, we believe the best choice you could possibly make is to live in a residence hall. If you're going to be attending Brooklyn College, then it's probably no surprise to you that we believe your best option is the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College. One of the reasons we have for that belief is all the amenities you'll enjoy as a resident here. We're going to take a look at some of those perks in this article. In the end, we think you'll agree that those amenities add up to a mountain of great reasons to live with us.

Some of the perks of living at the Residence Hall are actually outside of the building itself. One of them is the fact that there are security cameras positioned around the perimeter of the building. Along with the security measures we take inside the building itself, these help to create a situation where you can feel just as safe as you would in your home. Another perk of life here that exists outside the building is our courtesy shuttle to Brooklyn College.

Let's step inside the building. The amenities associated with life at Residence Hall exist both  inside the rooms themselves, as well as in the rest of the building. Inside the rooms themselves, one of the best perks is that all your utilities are included in your license fee! That includes your cable television and wireless high speed internet access. You'll also appreciate the fact that your rooms are fully furnished as soon as you move in. You'll have the option of private or shared bathrooms, and there are kitchenettes in every unit. You even get individually controlled air conditioning and heat!

Let's take a look at the rest of the building. For starters, we should mention that there's a security guard in the lobby twenty-four hours a day. After four in the afternoon, you'll have to show your building identification to get buzzed in. That way, you can rest easy, knowing that the only people that are in the building are people that are supposed to be there. Of course, you can have guests, you just have to let the office know in advance. Also, there are study areas, fitness rooms, and lounges available for your use, as well as on site laundry facilities. You get all the comforts of home... and more!

Not only will you be experiencing all the comforts of home, but as you've seen, you'll be experiencing additional safety. What's more, you'll be saving yourself some money as well! About the only more economical option would be to stay with some relatives who live near the campus. Of course, if you want to experience the sense of community that's such a memorable part of so many people's college years, then we invite you to come and join us at the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College.

More And More Students Opt for Housing in Residence Halls

These days, more and more college students are discovering that one of their very best options for housing during their college years is in a residence hall. There are a number of reasons for this. First, it's surprisingly affordable! Second, it's safer than living in your own apartment. It also provides an experience of community that's such a vital part of your development during your college years. We're going to take a look at each of these benefits in further detail, and in the end, you'll discover several specific reasons why housing in a residence hall during your college years could be a really terrific option for you.

As we mentioned a moment ago, one of the main reasons that an increasing number of college students every year opt for housing in an off campus residence hall is because it's surprisingly affordable. One of the reasons for that is that the price you pay to live in a residence hall includes not only your rent, but also all of your utilities. In fact, most of them even include cable television and wi-fi internet access! In addition, if you are living in an apartment and your roommate fails to pay his or her share of the bills, you can get evicted. This is not true in a residence hall. You have your own individual financial obligation, and if your roommate does not pay, they will suffer the consequences, not you.

Another great reason for opting to live in residence halls is safety. For instance, there's usually a security guard on duty in such a hall twenty-four hours a day. After hours, when the doors are locked, the security guard buzzes residents in. That way, you don't have to worry about anyone getting into the hall that isn't supposed to be there. That benefit alone can go a long way toward providing some much needed peace of mind, not only to students, but also to their parents. The directors of residence halls live in on-site, too, so if you do ever need to contact someone about a problem, you have the ability to do so any time.

Sometimes, the importance of developing a sense of community during your college years is under-emphasized. Fortunately, it is precisely such a sense of community that living in a residence hall can effectively foster. This is facilitated by such things as group activities and communal living areas. Such areas include exercise rooms, lounges, community kitchens, and study rooms! While you do want to foster a sense of community during your college years, you probably don't want to sacrifice all of your privacy in order to do so, which is why all of our rooms have their own private bathrooms and kitchenettes.

We understand that you do have other options for your living arrangements while you're going to college. Still, we believe that living in a residence hall can offer you the best of all possible worlds. As a matter of fact, even students whose parents live within driving distance of the college can benefit from living in a residence hall. Much of what you learn during your college years doesn't come from your books and your lectures!

International Student Housing NYC

You essentially have four options when it comes to having a place to live while you're in college. If your parents live close enough to the campus you've chosen, then you can live with them. If you can afford it, you can rent your own apartment. (If you can't afford one by yourself, you can try living with a roommate or two.) A third option, of course, would be to live in a dorm. That's one of the most popular options. There is a fourth one, though. It's living in an off campus residence hall. We believe that by doing so, you'll be reaping the best benefits of all of the other options, while avoiding their most annoying drawbacks.

We're going to discuss your options starting with the most expensive one, and work our way down to the least expensive one. The most expensive option is to live in your own apartment. Of course, it can be rendered less expensive if you live with a roommate or two, but that can be a risky move. If one or more of your roommates isn't able to meet their obligations, you can be evicted, even if you were able to meet yours. That won't happen in a residence hall. As long as you can pay your own bills, you can stay.

A less expensive option is to live in a dorm. There are a lot of rules, though. There are rules which govern life in residence halls as well, but they are usually much less restrictive. As a result, you can enjoy a greater sense of independence by living in a residence hall, and the transition to life on your own won't represent such a big step. Of course, some people prefer dorm life for that very reason, but most college students enjoy the additional independence. In many cases, dorms are often full. When they are, you can usually find a room in an off campus residence hall for a comparable price, and the experience is superior.

Your least expensive option is to live at home with your parents. However, this option is not without its share of drawbacks, even when your parents live close by. For one thing, you're probably ready to get out of the house! We're going to let you in on a little secret on that one. They're ready for that, too! Plus, with gas prices as expensive as they are, and no sign that they're going down any time soon, this option is probably more expensive than you think it is! It might actually save you money in the long run to live within walking distance of your campus, as you would if you were living in a residence hall.

So, you can save money in most situations by living in a residence hall near your campus. Not only that, it will be a more effective transition into the real world for you than life in a dorm would be. As you can see, residence hall living offers a level of freedom similar to that of having your own apartment, the security of living in a dorm, and the comfort of living at home... all at an affordable price!

A Day in the Life of one of our Residents

For most students, college marks a time of life in which there is a lot of change. Obviously, that extends to living arrangements as well. While there is no one typical day for a resident at the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College due to the nature of higher education itself, there remain several elements and amenities that will offer a level of consistency that is quite comforting. No matter if you're a senior studying anthropology or a freshman trying to figure his or her way in the world, you'll discover tons of positives to the Residence Hall.

Perhaps most comforting to students and parents is the level of security afforded to those who live here. There is a security guard located in the main lobby twenty four hours a day, plus close-circuit cameras in the public areas, perimeter, entrances, and elevators. Additionally, there is a shuttle to and from Brooklyn College that runs until 3am as well as close access to buses and subways. Of course, there are the standard safety features such as fire and carbon monoxide detectors. One other key aspect of security has to do with the financial aspects of living in the building. Even though some of our apartments are two bedrooms with multiple tenants, each resident is given an individual license agreement. That means that you don't have to worry if your roommates are not paying their rent!

Another feature that is consistent in a typical day living at the Residence Hall is the stellar amenities included with each room. No matter whether you have a private room or you share a room with a carefully selected roommate, these same features will grace your dwelling. Each apartment will be furnished with a bed, desk, chair, and wardrobe for each student. Furthermore, appliances such as a refrigerator, a microwave, and a hot plate are standard. Included in your pricing are all utilities (with air conditioning), wireless Internet, and cable TV.

This level of superior amenities extends to the common areas as well. In a typical day, a resident might do any number of activities within the building. A quiet study room is available at all times, plus you can use a meeting room for group studies or projects. The wireless internet is also reachable in the entire building. If you enjoy hanging out in a common area, the community lounge is a wonderful asset. The Residence Hall also boasts a fitness room and wonderful views of Brooklyn and Manhattan, which is a priceless feature indeed. Of course, no residence hall or dormitory is complete without laundry facilities, which are on site.

In college or graduate school, no student's day is just like that of another. However, at the Residence Hall, the level of security and the number of amenities work together to provide a base level of consistency that allows for some normalcy in a time period that many find chaotic, if not turbulent. With housing available for fall, spring, and summer semesters, plus an option for year round leasing, this building could be the spot you're looking for.
