Are you ready for the New Year? The Residence Hall @
Brooklyn College is! Next year will be a fun packed year filled with
wonderful activities for the residents. According to RHBC Staff, there will be
more diverse events ranging from group trips, to charity concerts, play
ensembles and much more! Also, for the first time since construction, students
will have the opportunity to suggest events that will be sponsored by RHBC
Management if approved! One resident that went home for the Holiday season
stated that he can't wait to return for the spring semester. With just a few days
left in the year 2012, the countdown for the new semester has officially begun.

From the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College
As the semester draws to an end, final examinations
approach. Thus, many residents have began to utilize the Quiet Study Room &
private lounges for the purpose of exam preparation. Last Week Monday, the RA's
organized a Finals Exam Preparation event in which residents received personal
tutoring services from Brooklyn College Librarian Matthew Harrick. On Thursday,
RHBC Staff provided free to students during our Winter Movie Night. The
overall consensus of the week’s events was an attitude of appreciation, as many
residents needed a study boost while simultaneously engaging in stress
relieving activity. Judging by the increase in study habits, we expect our
residents to do exceptionally well on their exams and wish them the best of
luck!

Whats Happening This Week?
Whats Happening This Week?
The Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College is gearing up for our first Fright Fest Costume Party! The event will be going down this coming Thursday at 7pm in the main lounge. Participants will have an opportunity to earn a prize for the best costume as well as for the best decorated door. RHBC Management will be sponsoring the event and providing free candy, beverages, and music for the residents to enjoy.
What to expect in the Future?
The Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College will be having our first Ladies vs Gents cook out event. The event is set to take place in the middle of November, before the Thanks Giving Recess. We expect this cook out to be a good competition, as many of our residents have received a lot of practice over the past 2 months. Our residents take advantage of the full size kitchen located in the Main Lounge, and have been consistently preparing meals since their first night. We are currently in the process of looking for a local charity to donate the food prepared during the cook out.

Events @ The Residence Hall
The Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College held our first scary movie night
last week Thursday. Many students showed up and received free pop corn
and beverages. Students were given the opportunity to select one of
three horror movies to view [Ju-on The Grudge, Insidious, Saw]. The
students chose to watch Insidious because they heard that it was a good
horror movie. Judging by the attendance at the end of the movie, I am
guessing that the movie certainly lives up to its reputation.
The scary movie night was a part of the Residence Hall @ Brooklyn College's ongoing weekly events. We have successfully staged an event every week since the beginning of the semester. So far, we have had 2 movie nights, a self defense night & an open mic night. All of our events are supported by the students that reside in the residence hall as well as students from multiple campuses in New York.
In staging the events we discovered something unique about our building. Every semester we always end up with a handful of [very] talented students. I am certain that one day soon, someone from our building will become a star. There is so much potential here that it is most likely inevitable. What is even more impressive is that the students manage to keep a balanced ratio between school and leisure. Residents who maintain such a balance generally attain a level of maturity associated with living away from home. We try to be as mindful of this balance as possible and reinforce positive aspects of each.
