The Increasing Trend of Residence Hall Living

Residence halls have a lot of advantages over other college living arrangements. As a result, in greater and greater numbers annually, even students who live near their campuses to begin with are opting for the kind of lifestyle which life in a residence hall offers. Students can learn a lot simply from living that kind of lifestyle. After all, not everything one learns during his or her college years is taught to him by his or her professors. For the next few moments, we invite you to join us as we explore life in residence halls in a little bit more detail.

We mentioned a moment ago that some of what you learn during your college years doesn't come from books or your professors. Where it does come from is the sense of community you can develop during this period. It's much more difficult, if not impossible, to develop that sense of community when you're either living by yourself or with your parents. One of the ways that living in a residence hall creates a sense of community is by offering things like communal kitchen spaces and lounges. Interacting with other students on such a regular basis can improve your interpersonal skills as well as allow you to meet new people.

One of the best things about living in a residence hall to begin with is its affordability. In fact, when you factor in your rent and utilities, it's definitely a lot more affordable than living in your own apartment, even if you have a roommate. When it comes to living in a residence hall,  “utilities” include things like cable television and wi-fi internet access, in addition to heat and air conditioning. You also get to avoid the danger of being evicted just because your roommate can't (or won't) pay his or her fair share of the bills. In a residence hall, each resident has his or her own individual bills, and their continued residence in the hall isn't contingent upon anyone else's success or failure when it comes to meeting those obligations.

Residence halls employ on-site directors, and those directors are on-site twenty-four hours a day, because they live there. That way, in the rare event that there is a problem, you'll always have someone you can go to about it. In addition to that, you also have resident assistants on every floor. Furthermore, there is a security guard in the lobby at all times. After hours, that security guard buzzes residents into the building, so that no one can get in that isn’t supposed to be there. This prevents most problems from happening in the first place.

Surely by now you can see why we're so enthusiastic about life inside of residence halls. It's the very best college living arrangement imaginable. By taking advantage of it, you get the safety of home, the independence of an apartment, and the community of a dorm. It takes the best features of all of these living arrangements and combines them into one incredible experience.

Residence Hall Extravaganza

The End of Semester Extravaganza held at the Residence Hall on Tuesday was a huge success, with over 250 students and guests celebrating the end of the semester with pizza, soft drinks and snacks, courtesy of Residence Hall.

Many students saw an opportunity to visit the Residence Hall for the first time and to learn about the many amenities offered to residents on site.

The highlight of the event was a raffle, held at the conclusion of the extravaganza by Ben Negrin, Director of leasing for Residence Hall, with a new iPad and iTunes gift cards among the prizes awarded to the excited winners.

Thank you to everyone who attended and made the event a great success!! We look forward to seeing you at our next party!
